Writing audit findings boards will actually read

How to phrase control observations for directors without diluting the issue or borrowing software-product language.

Directors of fintech firms rarely ask for more pages. They ask whether customer money is safe, whether returns can be defended, and who owns the next action. A findings pack that opens with those three answers earns attention; one that opens with methodology rarely does.

One finding, one owner, one date

Each observation should state the control that failed or was missing, the evidence date, the residual risk in plain language, and the person responsible for remediation. Severity ratings help only when the rating criteria appear in an appendix.

Mild language is not soft language

“Management should consider” often means the writer is unsure. Prefer “Management has not evidenced dual approval for withdrawals above NTD 500,000 on three of five sampled dates.” Boards can argue with facts; they cannot act on vagueness.

Summit Ledger Advisory closes every assurance engagement with a short oral briefing so the written pack is not the first time directors hear the tone of the findings.
